Michael Douglas: Catherine Was 'Outed' About Bipolar Disease

Well this explains a lot. When notoriously private Catherine Zeta Jones openly confessed she was suffering from bipolar disease, it was a big shock to everyone.

She's done such a great job of keeping her private life private, then all of a sudden she's an open book. What happened?

"She was outed," said her husband Michael Douglas.

"Catherine's being quite open about it because she was outed," Michael Douglas said on Tuesday's Oprah Winfrey Show.

"Went to get some help, and some other patient probably said, 'Hey, you won't believe who's in here now.' So, once that happens, I think she felt best to get out her story."

I just had an ahhh moment. It seemed so strange that she would openly talk about being hospitalized, but it makes sense if she was forced to come forward because she was outed. Hopefully she inspired fans with bipolar to be open about their condition and seek help too.
