The Skinny on Cate Blanchett

When Cate Blanchett showed up to last night's Costume Institute Gala in NYC looking super thin and sporting some bruises on her chest, it caused many to believe that the A-list actress had caught the Hollywood plague of anorexia. Luckily, that isn't the case.

According to reports, the actress has lost a considerable amount of weight for a role in the film "Cancer Vixen."

However, realize that sometimes movies are shot OUT OF ORDER. i dont know specifically that what you say is true, however, the producers may wish to shoot the film in reverse, having the shooting begin with her at a low weight, and reconveying after weight gain.

The movie is based on the story of a woman with breast cancer. Chemotherapy makes most women with breast cancer gain weight, mostly because of hormonal problems. And yes, I have been going through this myself, and I am still going through this. Weight loss tends to happen in final stages. If Cate Blanchett plays this movie by being skinny throughout, she will not portray breast cancer patients realistically.

How unrealistic! Women typically gain weight when they go through breast cancer treatments. From the American Cancer Society: "Many women who've had chemotherapy for breast cancer report gaining weight during the treatment, though the reasons for an expanding waistline are not yet well understood. The phenomenon is not seen in patients who have surgery alone, or surgery followed by radiation."
