Carrie Underwood is so popular that Fox has decided to give her a TV show! It’s only a one-time thing for now, however, so set your DVRs!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Carrie will host the two-hour special called Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special, which will feature guests like Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, and David Cook.
Carrie will perform previous hits, holiday classics and songs from her upcoming album and participate in comedy skits. Adam Shankman and Nigel Lythgoe will direct and executive produce the show, which will air Dec. 7.
It seems like the networks are really trying to revive the variety show genre. It hasn’t worked quite yet with Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, and the Osbournes’ Christmas special was sort of a flop too. John Mayer is still in talks to develop his own variety show at CBS. Let’s see how Carrie does hosting one of her own!
