French First Lady and the President of France have just given birth to a baby girl. French President Bruno Sarkozy and first Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy had their first child together today at the Clinque de la Muette.
We do not know the name of the baby but this is pretty monumental news for France as this baby girl is the first child born to a ruling French leader since Napoleon. However, Carla said she wouldn't release photos of the baby to press or media outlets because she thinks the French people wouldn't care for them anyways. She's probably right.
She previously told BBC last month, "There isn't much to say. So many women are expecting children and giving birth and it's so uninteresting for French people," syas Bruni-Sarkozy.
I've never been to France, but I'm assuming this is true. If that baby was smoking a cigarette and eating a baquette then maybe France would care. However, we care. And by "We" I mean the American population that reads tabloids and knows what a Snooki is.
"It's great news for me, but it's also something very banal," adds the first lady, regarding her pregnancy.
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is something of a French socialite, before she met and married the President Bruno Sarkozy, she was an actress/singer/model and dated famous men like Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger.
Carla and Bruno married in February 2008. Bruno has three children from two previous marriages and Carla has a 10 year old son from her last relationship.
I doubt we'll see any photos of the child for a while now. Carla has made it very clear that she wants no photos of their new baby
"I will do everything to protect this infant, and I'll be absolutely rigorous. I will never show photos of this child. I will never expose this child." Dang, do we have another Suri Cruise on our hands.
Obama's kids show up in the tabloids every once in a while and they seem fine?
The only thing we know is that she birthed a healthy baby girl. And she almost predicted it. When asked if the baby was a boy, she waved her finger saying, "A boy? I don't know myself, so the press knows better than I do."
The couple lives in the Elysee Palace (It's like the White House in France, I think?) so are they going to deck out a wing as the babies nursery? She says they "won't install a nursery" but "a cradle, maybe."
