Cameron Diaz has pissed off some people while on her visit to Peru. Obviously, it was done unintentionally but the bag she was carrying held an offensive slogan to the country.
Diaz visited the Inca city of Machu Picchu yesterday carrying an olive green bag with a red star and the words "Serve the People" written in Chinese.
With her luck, the saying is a reminder of the Maoist Shining Path insurgency with almost 70,000 people dying during the massacres and bombings in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
Pablo Rojas, a prominent human rights activist in Peru says, "It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims. I don't think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology did so much damage."
I'm sure she didn't know that history of the saying when she carried the bag. If she didn't know, she sure knows now!
