David Duchovny’s sex addiction has proven to be a good thing in his life…when it comes to the character he plays on Californication. Showtime announced this week that the show has just been picked up for a third season.
The series revolves around Hank Moody, a charming writer and novelist plagued with personal demons. He blames his years-long case of writer's block on a variety of reasons, ranging from the hedonism of Los Angeles, to his on-again, off-again relationship with his girlfriend Karen. Hank constantly deals with the fallout of his drug and sex addictions, while trying to show his family that he can be a good, caring person.
Showtime president Robert Greenblatt said of the series,
"It wouldn't be Showtime without a yearly dose of Californication. This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series. Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it.”
And David couldn’t be happier about the show’s return. He says,
"I love working with Showtime, Tom Kapinos, and the cast. We all have such creative freedom and support, it's been a peak experience, and I am so happy to be doing the show."
Season two is just about over, with the finale airing on December 14th. What do you think is in store for Hank Moody next season? Hopefully next year David’s
won’t mimic his one on screen.
