“I have a feeling that something is terribly wrong.” That’s what Linda Monjack, the mother-in-law to the late Brittany Murphy, told the Daily Mail following lab results that suggest the actress and her husband, Simon Monjack, who died a surprising five months later of very similar circumstances, may have been poisoned.
After suspicions were stoked with a toxicology report, Linda thinks a cover-up may have been involved in her son and daughter-in-law’s deaths and is appealing today for the investigation to be reopened to analyze the new details.
The Los Angeles Coroner’s office said it has the ability to exhume Brittany’s body for further examination, pending verification of the toxicology report’s credibility.
There are still questions over the source of the hair samples that Brittany’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, used in the independent lab testing.
If foul play was involved, a motive is the most mysterious part. Linda said the possibility never crossed her mind before, but now it has. She claimed that the couple were paranoid and—get ready, this gets even weirder—were targeted by the U.S. government for supporting a CIA whistleblower.
