When Musicians Get Real: 5 Pop Stars Who Became Reality Stars

There’s no denying our love of reality shows. The stars can be an unknown housewife with eight kids, or a group of screaming women arguing over pinot grigio—it doesn’t matter, we’ll watch it.

But one of our favorite types of reality stars is the musician. Here are five pop stars that came out from behind the mic to star in their own reality series:

Shania Twain. For someone with three recognizable songs, Shania Twain has made it huge in the pop music scene. Sure, the majority of her music is played in a bar somewhere in the bowels of Texas where people line dance to it un-ironically, but Twain recently landed her own TV show on OWN. Twain will star in Why Not? With Shania Twain. A statement from the network says, “The show will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures.”

Jessica Simpson. Remember when you were little and you wanted to be a singer and an actress and a fashion designer and a Barbie? Well, Jessica Simpson actually did it. And the fact that she went from the girl who didn’t know what tuna was to a billion dollar fashion empire is simply miraculous. Simpson’s marriage might have ended on Newlyweds, but her career was just beginning.

Snoop Dogg. While mildly entertaining, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood blew up in smoke, pun intended. The show featured Snoop, his wife Shante, and their three children, whom Snoop reers to as “Choc, “Rook” and “Spank”. I’m pretty sure he named them all after different varieties of weed.

Kanye West. Ok, so he doesn’t have his own reality show, but Kanye recently appeared on Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and if anything counts, that does. We can only fantasize about what a Kanye reality show would be like!

Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy had one of the first big reality shows, and it not only reestablished his career, it launched one for his children, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne. It also scared a lot of people off of two things: long term drug use and Pomeranians.
