Maybe all those dinner meetings and tropical getaways between Mel Gibson and Britney Spears had a purpose!

We're hearing that Mel attempted to hook one of his twin sons up with Brit. Edward had previously been in rehab for coke and drinking problems, so Mel probably thought they'd make the perfect pair!

He should have offered both twins. It takes a lot to get Brit's attention...like a landing strip.
