Britney Won't Do Promo Rounds

Britney Spears

When artists release records they typically do some major promo rounds, especially if there was a lot of hype surrounding your album--expect when your Britney Spears.

Spears is pissing off the suits at her record label, Jive, because she won't get involved in marketing her own album, 'Blackout.'

According to the NY Daily News, there are no plans for a tour, no promotional rounds set up, and no appearances set.

"They can't get Britney to do anything!" said a source close to the label and Spears. "They did get her to do one photo-shoot for some promotional materials, but beyond that, they can't trust her to even show up. This album could've been so much bigger with Britney involved.

"This is the one opportunity they have to try and sell a million records. They were forced to [go on with] their marketing plan" — without her.

Naturally a Jive spokeswoman commented: "We absolutely stand behind Britney."

Spears' album was released yesterday and it's already #1 on the charts. Do you think all the publicity surrounding Spears these past few months helped her record sales? If you bought her album were you impressed or disappointed by it?

I think fans bought it because it was the first album from her in about 3 years. But I think it will fall off a lot next week. When people actually start hearing that crap, they will be turned off. Celine will crush her next week.

i listened to my friend's copy yesterday and couldn't believe they released it.. it's terrible!! her voice is totally distorted and reworked in EVERY SINGLE song.. there is not one slow ballad or anything.. all remastered work... very cher approach to vocals.. so ridiculous... was soooo disapointed cause "in the zone" was her best record.. people are only buyin it cause they wanna hear how it sounds with all the hype and news surrounding her the past few months!!

I think her album will start huge but quickly fall off the charts. A sign of a really successful album is when a year after its release its still hanging in the top 50 of the album charts. I doubt if a year from now Blackout will still be in the top 50. Nelly Furtado, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, and others albums did just that.

Brit really should take care of that mustache.

I bought the album and I love it. All the haters will be dancing to it in the club....just wait and see. GO BRIT-BRIT!!

It doesn't matter. People predicted 2 weeks ago that this would be a complete and utter failure, and now it's a smash hit. It's #1 on iTunes in 11 countries right now. Carrie Underwood one of my favorites only appears on two countries, the US and Canada and isn't #1. In the US, she's #2, which is good. Britney is #2 on Amazon and was #3 on the hot 100. So either way you look at it, she has a hit with Blackout.

Personally, I hate the album. It isn't suitable for any kids to listen too. I'm not a hater either. I think people were curious and bought it. The music sucks, but the gimmick is smart...the tunes stick in your head whether or not you like it. She doesn't want to promote it because she knows it's not her best work. She feels no passion for it. Of course Jive is standing behind her, but this is the 5th of the 5 album deal she made with them. it should be interesting to see what happens where Jive is concerned.Britney is is depressed and in mental health trouble big time.

I think this is one of her best albums. I wouldn't say it's her best but i still love it and I think it is a very good album for everything that she has been through the past 3 years. And ok lets cut it out with the vocals, she has never been the best singer. She is a performer and a huge entertainer and that's why people love her. I still support her and always will because we can't ever know what shes been through growing up in the business since her first album when she was only 16 YEARS OLD!

"her voice is totally distorted and reworked in EVERY SINGLE song." What, Akanomes, it never occurred to you that all her previous recordings were done with software to make her average voice seem better than it actually is?

I heard the album... and i personally loved it... but its all on taste.. so i can see a lot of people not liking it. However, as far as her marketing goes... i heard her on Kiss Fm this morning.. and she seemed to get a little annoyed that Ryan was asking abt her kids instead of the album. I think thats part of the fear... that people aren't just going to be asking about "blackout", but her kids, custody etc. She maybe ready to talk about the album, but not her personal life. So promo's may force her to do that... thats just my opinion as to one of the reasons shes backing down.

the album defitely exceeded my expectations...they are ALL club HITS. i listened to my gf's copy: its actually hot, whether her voice is reworked or not.

The album is good. I know of atleast 4 songs in there that are good. How many artist now a days produce albums with atleast 4 good songs. Her singles will stay on the chart for sometime. I doubt it will be dropping anytime soon like some of you are expecting.

If true, I think it is ridiculous that the record label wants her to promote the album. She has way too many personel issues (and mental problems) that she needs to work on that or more important to her well being. They she care more about her health rather than their fat wallets.

I think this is her best album. There is one song that I can't stand listening to bu other than that I am jamming out to this cd alot. You go Britney! :)

does she want to do this anymore, or is she still upset over kevin? you can tell jive did the marketing, no personal touch. I hope she just takes a deep breath and gets into the grind again..

I think Britney has gone through a few things in her life now and is no longer just a mannequin to get up there and have people tell her what to do. She's real now. She will come out of these hard times eventually and gain wisdom and insight. It will make her a wiser and deeper person and not some mannequin
