Britney Spears dramatically stormed off stage for an hour during her Vancouver show on Wednesday after complaining the air in the venue had become too smoky.
15 minutes and three songs into her performance, the stage went dark and fans went wild. "Britney! Britney! Britney!" confused fans chanted. Not knowing Britney was already walking off the stage.
A female voice announcing to the crowd, "The building is awfully smoky. It is uncomfortable for everyone on stage, including Ms. Spears.
"Please extinguish all cigarettes – this is a non-smoking building, and the show will resume when the smoke on the stage is cleared," the Vancouver Sun reports.
After she came back on stage, concert goers say she was really out of it and seemed pissed off. She eventually finished the show and told the crowd, "Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don't smoke weed!"
After the show, Spears' publicist, Holly Shakoor, issued the following statement to the Associated Press explaining the situation. Her statement said "crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue."
