Britney Spears is going to have to wait a little longer to lap dance her way down the aisle. Britney became engaged to Jason Trawick over the holidays last year, and while it was previously reported that the two already have some details worked out for their wedding, it looks like that wedding is going to have to be postponed.
According to RadarOnline, Sam Lufti, Britney's former manager, is suing her for breach of contract. He's also suing her parents Jamie and Lyn Spears for defamation and libel. The trial will begin September 11.
So here's the deal. Britney's lawyers want to argue that she shouldn't be deposed or called in as a witness on the lawsuit. They've been successful in arguing this thus far, due to her conservatorship. A source explains:
"Lawyers for Britney's conservatorship have been successful in keeping her from being deposed in the Lutfi litigation. She could get married under the conservatorship, but the judge would have to sign off on it. If that were to happen, lawyers repping Lutfi would absolutely go into court and argue that if Britney were able to get married, she should be able to be deposed. There is no way Team Spears is going to let that happen."
So basically, Britney has to put off her marriage until the trial is over.
But don't worry, celebrity wedding freaks. Britney is still planning away.
"The wedding will most likely be a very low-key affair, and could take place in Britney's hometown in Louisiana, at her mansion in Kentwood. Jason is fully embracing having the wedding in Louisiana," the source added.
