Welcome to 2012 where the proof is in the tweet. Britney Spears just posted the first pic of the new line-up of the judges for the upcoming season of The X Factor, which includes herself and Demi Lovato as the token newbie’s, as well as veterans Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid (no, that’s not a skinny Randy Jackson).
E! Online covered the ceremonial announcement of the two girls addition to the show, whose first season debut fell well below initial expectations. Cowell, in his signature acerbic fashion took the low road, making it clear that his newly assembled militia was gunning for the audience of The Voice.
One can’t help but wonder if the Christina/ Britney Mouseketeer rivalry played into Cowell’s battle plan (and let’s hope some mogul is drawing up a deal for Justin Timberlake’s judiciary career as we speak).
Spears kept the reveal light and positive, gushing, "I'm so excited about this whole experience. It's going to be so much fun and so different than anything I've ever done. I'm ready to find a true star." Not a fake one, Y’all.
Demi was equally enthusiastic saying, wait…. Demi who? No, not that one. Talk about living in the shadows, first behind her namesake and now behind the pop culture royalty that is Brit Brit? This poor girl— who’s done some acting and recorded four full albums and a couple of soundtracks—doesn’t stand a chance at getting some screen time…. short of maybe shaving her head. On-air. During a performance of “Umbrella”?
