Britney Spears might be one of the biggest pop icons alive, but her wedding isn't going to be an over-the-top, lavish affair. Nope--bring out the turnip greens and put on your best overalls, 'cuz Brit's plannin' a good ol' fashioned southern soiree.
"She wants a traditional Southern-style wedding with comfort food, surrounded by her family, her two sons and all of her childhood friends, as opposed to a Hollywood wedding," an insider told In Touch Weekly.
Britney is engaged to her former manager, Jason Trawick, who proposed to her in Las Vegas' Paris Hotel.
After the proposal, Britney tweeted:
"OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for. Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo(sic)"
Personally, I thought it was going to be a Forever Lazy. Turns out it was a ring. Oh well.
Trawick has been dating Britney for two years and asked permission from her father, Jamie, before proposing. And for most guys, that would just be the gentlemanly thing to do. For Jason, it was the legal thing to do, since Jamie has conservatorship over his daughter.
Marck McBride, a Beverly Hills divorce lawyer, says: "If she did get married without her dad's permission, it would be a legal nullity, as in null and void – as in an illegal marriage. She would first have to get dad Jamie's permission. In the face of a ‘no’ from Dad, she would then have to ask a court to override her dad's decision, which almost surely wouldn't happen."
Good thing Boss Dad said yes!
