Britney Spears' 2007 VMA Performance

Its official--Britney Spears is a lost cause. The MTV VMA’s are finally here and the big show is already under way. For the past few weeks there has been a lot of hype surrounding Spears’ supposed ‘comeback’ performance but let’s just say it was less than mediocre. She was wearing heels that she could barely walk in and her performance consisted of her going from one side of the stage to the other in a jeweled bra and panties lip-syncing.

Several sources that had seen Spears’ rehearsals this week said she was great, but her performance during the show didn’t live up to the hype. It was obvious she was really nervous. Criss Angel was supposed to be on stage with Spears as well but he was barely walking across the red carpet during her performance.

Hollyscoop was on the red carpet at the VMA’s and asked the stars if they thought Britney was going to make a comeback and everyone seemed to be really excited and supportive.

Okay to make the point that we would look bad in a bikini onstage is just not relevant. We don't earn 700K a month. We are not groomed by an army of professionals. Our lives are not about what her life is about. She is an entertainer more than anything else - and entertainers have to look good! She's a naturally pretty girl, but when she shaved her head and started hitting bars and fast food joints instead of the gym, it took a toll - a toll that we all had the misfortune to observe in action at the VMA's! She is well into her mid 20's, it's time to get it together before her career is over completely. What no one seems to realize is that Britney is NOT going to be the next Madonna. Madonna had actual talent to back up her sex appeal when she started out. Britney just has/had sex appeal, and once she hits 30, any chance she has of reclaiming her lost sexiness is going to be gone! So she better get her shit tight while there's still a market for it, and that is all there is to it.

Our society is disgusting! She definitely doesn't look like she is in the best shape of her life, but she had two kids for crying out loud! It was not Britney's best at all, but I'm giving her a pass. She hasn't performed in a couple years plus, she's had kids not to mention, she's getting older. She may not ever be able to dance as good as she did when she first came out. Maybe she'll do better a second time around. Either that, or goodbye to her career.

It was the first time in a long time she has performed. Anyone would be nervous. Even the most seasoned of performers get nervous and don't perform their best. I feel for the girl. Yes...she has made stupid decisions, but she is still so very young and believe she can pick up the pieces. She can be as strong as before. Give the girl a break! As far as her body...she looked great after having two kids. The majority of women after having kids are typically fat and don't care if they get back into shape. Also, remember the camera puts 10 lbs. on you. Everyone needs to stop being so critical of her and focus on their own lives/problems.

We waited in anticipation. Everyone deserves a second chance. She has had many second chances!. We watched her on our big screen tv and dvr'd it. Her appearance was horriffic to say the least. She didn't dance, or even lip sync during parts of the song. She wasn't nervous. gimme a break ..she is a seasoned highly trained millionare entertainer. She was out of shape horribly. I don't care if she has had 2 kids. Many Many celebs get back into shape before appearing in skimpy attire. I didn't get to see the performance yet, but someone else on here hit the nail on the head....she is in pretty damn good shape for having two kids! I know some women who have had just one and have gone to sh*t. I think she was very nervous. I mean like everyone has said they expected something out of this world. And it wasn't. But let's think even if it was someone would have had a negative comment about it.It seems lots are against her. And why? There was a commit about self esteem. How could she not have those issues, when every little thing she does is criticized. I think she should tell her side of the story. She needs support right now. Mannn is was disappointing, sad, embarassing.. all of those in one. I actually feel bad for her. Bad b/c all of the attention has been cased on her. She lost her spark, she's totally out of shape (I mean remember how hot she looked a few years back when she did Oops! at the VMAs) and she forgets her very own lip-synching which proved she's definitely lost it all... this really was a pathetic performance. there was such hype about it and while watching all i could think is wow this is so disappointing. her lipsyncing was totally obvious and she barely moved around the stage...let alone do any kind of dancing which is what she is known for. there was a complete lack of energy and she was completely expressionless throughout her entire performace. for anyone who says to give her a break bc it was her first performance in awhile...sorry but theres just no excuse. maybe she was nervous, but after being a performer for soooo many years (almost her entire life), she should have been ready and it was VERYYYY obvious tht she was not. truely sad britney. truely sad.

The only reason she did bad was becuase a few minutes before she came on stage the people didnt want her to do the magic tricks. The hotel flipped out about it because of insurance! They did not want her floating in the air and disappearing! So she had like 10 minutes to rehearse this! It takes alot of guts to get up there after all she's been through half of ya'll dont got that! So cut her some slack! you can tell she's unfocused, something weighing down on her mind. i was a fan, now...i still am,just frustrated. maybe it had something to do with sarah silverman's harsh jokes or the fact thatthe hype was too big and kanye slamming her before the show or MTV just using her torecover their ratings.....yep. a lot was on her mind. i root for the underdogs. go britney, take some time off to recover and maybe smack silverman's ass around. lol ps i still dont really like 'gimme more' tho.

Don't let people pull you down, your still a pop princess to me and I believe you will be a great star again.. Think positive and be confident because you were once a star and will always be a star. It's natural for Britney to be in out of shape because she has two babies.. Go BRITNEY, show them who the real britney is.. Don't lose hope..Others are jealous to you because your performance was good and you make your body good and remember that you were a good performer and will always be.

Well, i don't think the performance was anything we expected since she was soo great before k-fed, i really didn't like the outfit but especially hated the shoes bc i think her boots were the reason she didn't dance much! Britney needs to focus on her family and what makes her happy.......and if her career is what makes her happy then she needs to work harder.....so much harder! Britney just focus on yourself and your boys, who cares about everybody else!

Ok her performance was lame. I actually like the song though. What I have an issue with is that critics are saying she is out of shape. HELLO!? Why do all the women in celebrity land need to be stick thin like those god awful Olson twins? WHY? Britney looked fine and in shape. The men can look however they want but the women are all anorexic. I also think its poor humor to make jokes at a childs expense, regardless if her kids were planned or not.
