We all know that Britney’s appearance on “The X Factor” was hyped, but this is just ridiculous…
Fans all over the country tuned into FOX for the Season 2 premiere of the singing competition show. And, more than the music and even Simon, there was no denying that the “Hit Me Baby (One More Time)” singer was the major pull.
A source close to Spears tells Hollyscoop that she received over 13,000 tweets a minute during the Britney critique montage that ran at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The total number of tweets rang in at a whopping average 13,374 a minute…
Britney’s massive tweet number is more than what Ryan Lochte received after winning the 400M individual medley during the 2012 London Games. That historic moment barely broke the 11,000 tweets a minute mark.
To give you just a little more TV perspective on Brit’s social media monument, when Don Draper’s (Jon Hamm) wife performed “Zou Bisou Bisou” on the “Mad Men” Season 5 premiere, it only received 1,219 tweets a minute… Britney got tens times that!
What exactly does this mean? Well, in short, America cares more about the original blonde pop diva than it does sports and the 1960s combined…
Not only that, but out of all the “X Factor” tweets that were produced, 12.9 percent were geared at Britney… Sorry Simon!
The good news comes after the season premiere received underwhelming ratings, coming in second during its competing hour with “The Voice.”
But, with DVRs and Youtube taking over, and Twitter becoming increasingly relevant within the younger generation, tweets could simply just be the new way of ranking an audience’s reaction.
“The X Factor” continues tonight at 8/7 c on FOX.
