Britney Spears' legal team has rejected a plea bargain in her driver’s license case, and now it will go before a jury on October 15th. She was offered a chance to pay $150 and have a year’s probation, but they declined. But Brit won’t have to be present in court because it’s just a misdemeanor crime.
To bring you back up to speed, the charge against Britney stems from an August 2007 incident in which she was videotaped as she bumped another vehicle while parking her Mercedes. She left the scene without leaving a note, only looking to make sure there was no damage to her own car.
The owner of the other vehicle later filed a police report and Britney was charged a month later with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license. The hit-and-run charges were dismissed in October 2007 after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner.
The max Brit could possibly get would be 6 months in jail, but her attorney Michael Flanagan says it’s highly unlikely. We sure hope so! Brit’s doing so well these days! We’d hate to see her relapse!
