Britney In Detox

Britney Spears

Britney Spears checked into UCLA Medical Center on Thursday at 1:30AM and is currently going through a detox process at the hospital.

Spears is being evaluated for her condition so she can be given the proper medication to treat her bipolar condition.

“It’s often helpful to clear the decks under medical supervision and get back to the drawing board and decide, ‘What have we been dealing with here?’” Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist who has not treated the pop star, tells PageSix.

“You have lots of people who have manic symptoms of bipolar disorder wrongly diagnosed with attention deficit disorder,” says Dr. Ablow. “But if you put those people on stimulant medication, you can make them worse by driving them into the highest highs of their disorder.”

Spears is expected to stay at UCLA for another 3-14 days. After she is discharged from the hospital her parents plan on taking her back to their hometown in Kentwood, Louisiana so she can recuperate.

She is actually under a 5150, not detox. They have her there under watch and she is once again being evaluated from a psychological standpoint. She can only be held there for 72 hours, as part of the 5150... she is stays there after the 72 hour limit, it is because she chose to. Honestly, the only way she gets better is if she consciously chooses to do so! You can help someone that does not want help. She is probably unaware that she has a dissassciative identity disorder... and Adnan is a piece of shit, user and abuser... Lufti was right to say he's a manic trigger... HELLO isn't it obvious.

This guy Dr. Keith Ablow has made this statement to page six and yet he is "NOT" treating the pop star so who is he to make such a statement in the first place? He's not a creditable source for that type of information. Just typical Page Six antics.

Detox is part of the psyche evaluation. They have to get you off of whatever you might be on in order to diagnose you properly. So Dr. Ablow might not be her doctor the process he is decribing is correct.

HELLO ...... I WAS JST BEING SARCASTIC ABOUT THE WHOLE FREINDS THING! LMAO!

Melanie...He's a doctor he knows how a patient is treated that does not mean that is the treatment that she is under going and he has no place to make such a statement, because she is not his patient and if she was his patient he still should not make a statement. What I can't figure out is how is that Dr. Phil did the same thing and people are trying to send him off to the chopping block for it, but this guy is doing the same thing and no one is taking it to the same measures.

Has it occurred to Hollyscoop's new advertiser that the word "WORM" has bad associations for computer/Internet users?

Dr. Ablow and others aren't her doctor. They can give their opinions and thoughts. Dr. Phil on the other hand was used by the family to be some kind of therapist and he runs his mouth to entertainment tonight. That's the difference. I'm sure if Britney's current shrink did the same thing he/she would get condemned too.

Absolutely correct on both posts, Melanie.

Neither Dr. Phil nor Dr. Ablow should have made any kind of statements so your wrong Melanie.

Dr. Ablow is speculating about Britney like every other shrink on tv and the net. They can, they don't treat her. Dr. Phil who was recruited as her therapist should have kept his mouth shut. So I think you're wrong. And so does the California Psychiatric Board or whatever it is that is investigating him.

OK la chat, what part of tv doctor and real doctor don't you understand? Dr. Ablow, Dr. Pinsky, the doc on Nancy Grace whose name I don't know and others are talking heads. That's what they do, talk. They give their insight and expert opinion on the latest star to go to rehab, psyche ward etc. They talk about Britney, Heath, the guy on Greys's Anatomy. Dr. Phil was being used by her family as a real doctor to help Britney. He should have shut the fuck up. That jackass had no business talking to anybody about anything concerning Britney. Just like your personal doctor shouldn't run his mouth about you. Now la chat that's the difference.....jeez.

Melanie people are entitled to freedom of speech, but they are not entitled to scream out fire if none exists. Dr. Ablow is screaming Fire without proof of their being one and that is not okay. Do you get what I am saying now?
Posted by: La Chat on 02/02/2008 07:16 AM

Well ok La chat well why aren't the tv docs being investigated but Dr. Phil is?
