Britney Doesn't Think She Has a Problem

Could Britney Spears relapse soon? She has made it through two weeks in rehab, but doctors are still really concerned about her condition. "They're in shock at what bad shape she's in," says an insider.

The pop princess, who checked herself into Promises Rehab Center, "has been getting in tons of trouble."

"She's convinced she's suffering from postpartum depression and does not think she has an alcohol or drug problem," the source says. "She's angry at her family and her manager for pressuring her to enter the program. She feels she was ambushed."

What do you guys think? Is it PPD or something else?

Denial. Its a classic symptom of mental illness and addiction. If she admits to having a drug/alcohol problem how will ever be able to party again without the press pointing out that she "has fallen off the wagon?" Her PR or whoever suggested that it is postpartum depression obviously doesn't understand that depression doesn't turn you into a socialite barfly....the true postpartum sufferer's are owed an enormous apology and I still think Britney should be in a lock down unit. She is clearly very unstable and unwillingly to accept that she has serious problems.

coalharbourqt, i agree with you. The best thing for her is to focus on getting her life back in order and then a comeback album a year or so later. She already has the support of Timberland and he is a heck of a producer and isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

miss thang has it right on. Sadly, Britney is believing her own press instead of getting real with herself about what her problems are! I hope she has a moment of clarity and is able to get better, for the sake of her own well-being and her family. The biggest mistake she could make right now is thinking that a comeback album is even important. Give it a year, get right, then come back!

News these days loves to blame PPD for everything a mother does crazy. My wife said she never had it after our daughter was born. Closest she came was typical first time parent paranoia something could happen to the baby, not that SHE wanted to DO anything to the baby as some cases like to use PPD for. I think Brit's just having too many stresses hit her at one time and has had a psychotic break. K-Fed using her, then trashing her, then leaving her w/2 kids, and all this while she's supposed to be young and not tied down to these responsibilities. Her choices, yes, but it all comes to a head I think, bald as the case may be :)

This is not a PPD issue. She has and have had a drug and alcohol problem for years (remember the youtube posting of kevin taping her while she was eating and obviously high). I wouldn't doubt that she is bipolar but definitely not PPD. Symptoms of PPD and Bipolar almost parallel and she doesn't have a problem being around her kids. A person with true PPD doesn't go out clubbing every night, getting high/drunk, and smiling for the cameras everyday. Majority of the time you don't even want to be bothered with people. It is just another way to spin her obvious problems into something people sympathize over....not working with me!

I think the PPD is a PR ploy to regain the public support she briefly had when she dumped Kevin. I've read rumors of subtance use prior to her pregnancies, so what is her excuse for that?

I always thought from the beginning that she had post partum. But I also think that the depression drove her to drink and use drugs, so it's a mixture of all that.
