Brit Wants Visitation

January 22, 2008

The tables have turned! Britney Spears' lawyers will go to court tomorrow to ask the Commissioner to allow Brit "monitored visitation in a therapeutic setting."

Apparently her family and friends have come up with a plan to help get Britney evaluated and treated, TMZ reports. Unfortunately, the judge has already ordered Britney to undergo psychological evaluation but she hasn't complied. Kevin's lawyer is probably gonna wanna get the psychological evaluation mandated before Britney gets the kids.

The hearing will take place tomorrow morning and I sure hope it doesn't turn into another media circus. Brit doesn't need to show but it will obviously help if she does.

The judge did not change the ruling. If she is not going to even take the time to show up for court to plead her case why is wasting everybody else's time?

I do think she loves them, she just does not know how to be a mother to them. Britney is really messed up right now. She needs to get some serious help first.

Beenthere: Do not confuse termination of parental rights with loss of custody. Two totally different things. Termination of rights is for adoptions, parents who endangered the child(tried to kill), physical/sex abuse, neglect. There are murderers in prison who still have parental rights. Britney has mental and/ or drug issues that can be resolved with professional help. As the mother, the court will give her the opportunity to do that. She will still have the right to regain her loss of custody after April. Let's say in August she decides she's hit rock bottom and gets the help she needs, she can go back to the court and petition for joint custody back. That option will be there. It's hard for a mother to lose all rights, judges tend to believe that is not in the best interests of the child. Now as far a volunatary termination of parental rights is concerned, a judge will not allow that so you can get out of paying child support. If that happened the child support collection system in this country would collapse. Don't you think dead beats dads would have taken that route if they could? How do I know this? Because for 6 horrendous months I used to work for a private child support collection agency. I have heard every BS story under the sun. We went after people whose kids were already 18 and older but the spouses were owed back child support.

Beenthere: I don't know you, but I'm guessing the major difference between you & Britney is number 1, you're sane, number 2 you haven't been involved in a police standoff with your kids lately. I'm not a lawyer either, but I think Britney should go with her professional legal counsel and not try to represent herself. I don't think what worked for you will work for her. Her lack of attendance not to mention her disregard of numerous court rulings would guarantee she lose her kids. Yes,Paul wants to settle, but he is holding the cards because she's broke, been dumped by her lawyers(they represented Diana, I'm sure they knew what they are doing) and he can threaten to fight for custody of their little girl now, since Heather revealed she has suicide thoughts. She screwed herself up with that tv tirade. What was the point of that? Now she will get paid , but not the huge settlement she could have had at first. Whatever you think of Paul & Kevin they are smart. They did what their lawyers told them to do. Whereas their exes do whatever dumb ass idea that pops into their heads at that moment and worry about the consequences tomorrow.

Kara: If she loses in April, she can have her rights terminated and that would end child support. Sure if she wants to keep trying to regain custody then she will have to keep paying the child support and follow court orders but she will spend a lot more money doing that. Better to just terminate the rights and wait for her ex to start calling to make a deal. After all by the time the kids are 6 they will be begging to see Mother. That is why the court has not terminated those rights as of yet and it is also why K-Fed has not asked for more child support...he knows he will lose.

tasha: Sounds like you have never been to court. I am not a lawyer but when divorcing I found that I did great after I fired my lawyer and handled it myself. I had lawyers trying to rewrite the deed to my property in an effort to add billable hours while knowing that the bank would rewrite the deed (take his name off) anyway and do it much cheaper. My ex's lawyer never won a motion after I fired my attorney and he tried hard but instead was yelled at by the judge on several different days regarding several different motions. Even his brother attorney's in the court room were laughing at him and he was suppose to be one of the best lawyers for divorce at this court house. I am sure many people could not do it but if you can clearly explain yourself, you are better off to represent yourself. I see Paul McCartney's ex is now representing herself and his lawyer has already called with an attempt to settle. Informing the court that you will not be subjected to anything your ex is not subjected to is simply a demand for equal justice and not a lack of respect for the court. Britney's judge has been led around by the nose so far by Kevin Federline...he should be embarassed.

She is as stubborn as a mule and the judge should treat her like one. Hit her between the eyes with a legal 2x4: Visitation will not be changed until you follow court orders. Period. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. If she loses in April and that looks likely, her rights won't be terminated. She can challenge the ruling until the boys are 18. But the judge should tell her the same thing, follow the court orders.

Tasha: If the court gives full custody to Kevin Federline then Britney should and will have her rights teminated and therefore will pay no child support.

Oh Reader, if Kevin wins perm full custody in April, the child support is going up. Way up. To about the $90K a month range. That's why I'm HOPING, since she showed for the depo, this might be progress and she realizes the consequences of losing the kids. And that evaluation is a court order from the judge, it's not a choice. She's already on thin ice as it is, this is not the time to show the court disrespect.

miss thang: I read everything and everything I read about Britney has said things like "she has passed all random drug tests" and the latest one being a hospital employee that said with regards to drug testing "she is as clean as clean can be and has been for sometime." So where did you get this info that she is using prescribed drugs now? I've read many times Kevin Federline's lawyer's claims that she has failed a drug test when she missed the drug tests but surely you know that is just his spin. As for Brit's attitude, I think the girl is getting babysitting service kind of cheap for 24/7 coverage she is paying 15,000 per month while a friend of mine does nannie work at 27.00 per hour with 8 to 10 hour days. At her rate Brit would be paying 14,200 for 30 days of 20 hours per day. So considering the going rate for a english speaking qualified nannie with college degree and drivers license, Brit is doing fine with the child support pay being full coverage for child care while she practices for her next dancing video. I hope that she will not agree to any eval that is not also given to Kevin. She also needs to insist that Kevin be drug tested.

What progress are you talking about Tasha? Since her episode as you call it, she hasn't done shit to prove she has her head on straight. It's sad but until mama gets her shit together those boys should stay right where they are.

Tasha, I don't believe she gives a rats ass about those kids and it shows in her attitude after this last court ruling. She didn't shed a tear nor did she let this hamper her actions and fun. It wasn't until yesterday she decided to go back to the studio and work and go to her deposition. Her and Sam is up to something and I am sure Sam is behind this--anything to keep her cash in her pocket so he can get to it himself. But they shouldn't let her have vistation while undergoing psych treatment. We already seen that she continues to abuse drugs (prescription I am sure of) around them and get her high and she is mentally unstable where the next time she is going to really hurt or kill those boys just so she can "stick it" to Kevin. Her whole actions is to get Kevin's attention. Its definitely not for the boys. She can care less about them.
10:04AM 01/22/08 Tasha
She should have to get the psych evaluation before seeing the boys because if she does have mental issues, it's just a matter of time before she has another episode. But this is progress. I think the idea of paying Kevin big money every month & Shar raising her kids is giving her a new attitude.
