A Look Back at Britney Spears\' Roaring Twenties
Happy 29th birthday, Britney Spears! To celebrate everything that is Brit-tastic today, Hollyscoop is taking a look back at Ms. Spears' last decade. And trust us, a LOT has gone down!

2001:
With two world tours already under her belt, Brit was enjoying superstardom—money in the bank, and Justin Timberlake on her arm. Her third Britney came out, selling over $12 million copies. This was the year Brit started breaking out of her bubblegum pop image, and got a little sexy. No one could ever forget her VMA performance of “Slave 4 U.”

2002:
Britney the business woman emerged in 2002 as she was named Forbes’ most powerful celebrity. She also started acting, landing her first role in the movie Crossroads opposite Zoe Saldana. My how things have changed since then!

2003:
This is the last year of Spears’ innocence. Brit pumped out yet another album this year, this one being the dance-centric In the Zone, which she also helped write and produce. NPR listed the album as one of "The 50 Most Important Recording of the Decade", adding that "the decade's history of impeccably crafted pop is written on her body of work."

2004:
Britney started ’04 off with a bang by marrying her childhood friend Jason Alexander in a quickie wedding in Vegas. It was annulled hours later, but we’d soon realize the crazy Britney was here to stay for a little while. Not long after, she joined Kabbalah because of her friend Madonna’s influence. And next thing you know, she’s engaged to Kevin Federline! They were married in September, and soon after Brit announced she had a bun in the oven.

2005:
Britney laid low for most of 2005, partly due to the fact that she was pregnant. She gave birth to Sean Preston in September, and was photographed for People looking happier than ever. There was hope that things were going well in the Spears-Federline household.

2006:
Britney’s first headline of ’06 had nothing to do with her career—she was photographed driving with her five-month-old son on her lap. She claimed she did it in order to get away from paparazzi, but child advocated slammed her, calling her a bad parent. But just a few months later, Brit gave birth to her second son Jayden James. By November, her marriage to K-Fed was over, and she filed for divorce.

2007:
No one will ever get the video of Britney shaving her head…well, out of their heads! She was video taped and photographed shaving her head at a hair salon in Tarzana, CA. Within a couple weeks, she admitted herself to Promises rehab facility. She spent a month there, and tried to make a comeback with a series of promotional concerts at House of Blues venues, titled The M+M's Tour. Spears lost physical custody of her children to Federline on October 1, 2007. The reasons of the court ruling were not revealed to the public.

2008:
After refusing to give up her sons on January 3rd of ’08, the authorities were called to the house and placed her on a 5150 psychiatric hold. The court placed her under a conservatorship run by her father, which is still in effect today. This is was started her real comeback. She appeared on How I Met Your Mother, receiving rave reviews as the role of Abby.

By December, she released her sixth studio album Circus, and she was back to topping the charts.

2009:
Jamie Spears obtained a permanent restraining order against Brit’s former boyfriend, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib. She embarked on her Circus tour, which became the fifth highest grossing tour of the year.

2010:
Britney is finally in a good place—so it seems. Her father remains head of her conservatorship, and her love life is stable for once in years—she’s dating agent Jason Trawick. She appeared on Glee making it one of the highest rated episodes ever. As for music, Britney reportedly recorded her next album with Dr. Luke and Max Martin. It’s expected out early next year.
