Less than a year after his nearly fatal hemorrhage, he's set to go under the knife to repair a small hole in his heart. That's gotta be rough.
“I’ve done a lot of neurological tests, and they say I’m about 95 percent there,” he said, adding that he'll check in to the hospital on January 24th.
“I still have a little ‘funk’ with my left hand that I haven’t quite figured out, but I think with a little more therapy, by one full year (after the hemorrhage), I’ll be as good as I’m going to get.
When asked about complications, he added, “Barring any complications, I should be out within three to four days. Then, I will be down (resting) for three weeks. I don’t know if I can sit around for that long, but I’ll try my best.”
So much has happened in his life since the hemorrhage. He finally proposed to his girlfriend Kristi Gibson after 16 years together, but most importantly doctors have been keeping a really close on him to make sure he doesn't have anymore health complications. Stay tuned for more deets on his surgery!

Bret finally gave in and popped the question to the woman that has obviously been there through everything, including the show that had Bret on the search of another woman. That's some serious commitment.
Bret and Kristi Gibson got engaged on Monday night's finale of his VH1 reality show, Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.
Bret and Kristi immediately told their daughters the good news saying, "I did it! We'll all be together forever! Family hug!"
Would you stick around for 16 years without some sort of commitment? Hey, it's worked for Kurt and Goldie!

There were jaw dropping allegations that Bret did the dirty with Miley's mom Tish and after Billy Ray found out he went ape shit and filed for divorce. Don't blame the guy!
Miley on Parents' Divorce: I'm to Blame
But now Bret is going on record denying the allegations claiming they're just friends. Friends with benefits perhaps?
He told People magazine, "I've been friends with her family forever," adding, "It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record."
"When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song … and that was it," he said. Surrrrre, tell it to the judge! No just kidding, who really knows what went down. Wouldn't put it past them, but at the same time don't want to accuse either one of them of adultery. What do you think?

Sources tell Us Magazine Billy found out about it last week, and immediately filed for divorce on October 27.
Miley Cyrus' Parents File for Divorce
The source says Michaels "became close to the entire family" this past February when he and Miley released their duet "Nothing to Lose."
Apparently Tish and Bret began their secret affair not long after. "Billy Ray was completely unaware of what was going on," the source explains.
Looking Back at Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus
Michaels’ rep denies the claims, saying "There has never been an affair or a fling. But the source insists, "It was a professional relationship that turned into something more."
Tish was seen at Michaels' Feb. 28 show at the Key Club in L.A., and he had once asked her production company’s help to adapt his book, Roses & Thorns, into a movie.
Star was first to report the allegations. More details to follow…

We don’t know if those abs were drawn on in Photoshop, but his body is looking pretty good on the cover! In the article, Bret talks about overcoming his recent health scares, and how it’s affected his personal relationships.
He says viewers will see the real him when he returns to TV in the VH1 documentary Life As I Know It. “It’s an all-access backstage pass into my everyday life, about finding balance between my passion for my family, my relationship with [girlfriend] Kristi [Gibson] and being on the road,” he tells the mag.
Michaels also talks about almost becoming a judge on American Idol. “Not only was I in meetings with (American Idol production company) Fremantle, I made it to what they called the ‘Top Four,” bret explains. “But if there’s someone else that would give great career advice and bea lot of fun on TV, it’s Steven Tyler…We also talked a little about Simon Cowell’s new show, X Factor, and they asked me about being the host of a dating show they’re doing…”
Pick up a copy of Billboard on newsstands now, and check out Life As I Know It on October 18.

Bret will undergo open-heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart, a condition which he has unknowingly had since he was born.
"Is he 100 percent? No, but he's in good spirits, he's having fun on the road, he loves his fans and has always said music heals him," a rep for the rocker told Radaronline.
"He said that there are times when, of course, he worries but he has great people around him and he's very cautious."
He miraculously recovered after suffering from a brain hemorrhage in April so he's certainly had his share of health problems this year. Hopefully he'll get back on track after this surgery. You're in our thoughts Bret, stay strong!

In a recent interview he let it be known that the chances of him marrying his girlfriend of sixteen years (and the mother of his two daughters) is now an even 50/50.
Like the true rock star that he is, Bret is reckless even with his own life, and is pretty much ready to marry Kristi Gibson (that's the wife-to-be). It is crazy antics like this that make him the rebel that he is. Who in their right mind would rush into marriage after only a sixteen year stint and two children? This is insanity!
Bret, please don't do this. You don't have anything to prove. Everyone already sees you as rebel--you wear those cool bandanas after all; there is no need to resort to such craziness.

Chris is reportedly one of the front-runners for the job now that Simon has bowed out. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Chris has already met with Fox execs twice for the gig.
While execs refuse to comment on who they think should replace Simon, his successor will most likely be announced in September.
Who else is being considered? Believe it or not, Harry Connick Jr., is also in the running, as well as Bret Michaels. Who do you think should replace Simon from the three?

Janna Elias, V.P. of Michaels Entertainment said in a statement today, "While Bret may be out on the road and performing, he is still not 100 percent. He still has pain from the chemical meningitis, short term memory loss and gets fatigued quicker than normal."
So why does Michaels seem to be pushing himself to the limit? He "simply feels that music is a powerful healer," explained Elias.
Bret Michaels Pushing Himself to the Limit?
Dr. Joseph Zabramski of the Barrow Neurological Institute added that Michaels' is lucky to be alive after his brain hemorrhage and stroke. "Between 15 and 20 percent of patients die as a result of the initial hemorrhage, and only approximately 50 percent of those that survive have a good outcome," he said.
"For anyone to speculate that this was not a life threatening medical emergency is absolutely incorrect," added Zabramski. "Bret is truly one of the most determined individuals I have ever met when it comes to an attempt at making a full recovery."
Bret continues to amaze us with each day! It's like he's unstoppable and has a new lease on life! He's reportedly meeting with American Idol execs to seriously discuss taking over for Simon Cowell next season.

The rocker has made his mind up about going on tour, and he's not letting his recent medical hiccups get in his way.
And now just today, Bret has decided to add even more dates to his tour this summer.
Bret Michaels to Undergo Heart Surgery
A statement on his website reads: "Hey everyone! Once again Bret and all at Michaels Entertainment can not thank you enough for your many well wishes, prayers and thoughts through Bret's recent life threatening health issues! That being said, let's get to it."
He added, "A few more shows were added to the tour schedule yesterday including Michigan, Idaho and Oklahoma."
Bret Michaels: Who Needs Rest?
This comes on the heels of Bret being considered as a replacement for Simon Cowell on American Idol.
Hollyscoop spoke to fellow musician Colbie Callait at the Women in Film event this week, who told us, "I’m sure he will be great, I think it’s just hard. Simon leaving, the show is not be the same. Kara luckily is an amazing addition to it and Ellen has been wonderful too. I think Simon was the glue that held everyone together. Im sure the show will still do amazing."
We asked if she thinks it's smart that Bret is going back on tour so fast. "Everyone is different," Callait explained. "I know I need more rest than some artist. Some people love touring and that is just their life. It may make his life better."
Kate Flannery, who plays the hysterical Meredith on The Office, is a fan of Bret replacing Simon, "as long he is honest enough."
She told us, "It's really about being honest that is the great thing about Simon, he is no BS. You need somebody to just cut to the chase. Somebody has to do that on the show. I hope its Brett who knows, he has been through a lot and it would be a nice fit for him."
"Hopefully it wont kill him," she added.
We certainly hope not! We commend Bret for his drive, but part of us wishes he would give himself a little vacation instead!
