If you saw “Bryan Cranston” trending on Twitter tonight, you may have thought he had just taken home an Emmy for his role as Walter White on “Breaking Bad.”
But then you’d be wrong.
Save your congratulatory tweets—for next year probably, when the AMC series will inevitably be nominated for every award possible.
The reason Bryan became the evening’s online Trending Topic was because he lost. (The good news is the show won in the most watched category of the night, Outstanding Drama Series.)
Fans were in an uproar when it was announced that Jeff Daniels from HBO’s “The Newsroom” was the winner. It had many questioning if the Emmy voters lost their minds—including the media.
Brian Stelter of the New York Times tweeted that even those in the press room were left speechless:
