In case you had any doubts, Bradley Cooper has just been named the Sexiest Man Alive. Personally, I don't get it, but then again, my childhood crush was Weird Al.
People magazine has bestowed the 2011 title on the Hangover actor, and here's why. Well, first, there's the obvious--women think he's hot as hell. But he also rides a motorcycle, loves his mom, and remember that video of him speaking French? I think he gave a collective orgasm to everyone who saw that. Even straight men. It was pretty good French.
When Cooper learned of his new title, he said: "First thing I thought was, my mother is going to be so happy."
Cooper continued: "I think its really cool that a guy who doesn’t look like a model can have this [title]. I think I'm a decent looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."
In recent months, Bradley has been rumored to be swooning newly single Jennifer Lopez. However, he describes his status as a "single 36 year-old male."
If you're a single man and you happen to be in this business," he says, "you're deemed a player. But I don't see myself as a ladies' man."
Uh huh. I'm gonna stop putting up Bradley Cooper quotes now, because we're all just here for the eye candy, am I right? So let's take a look back at the highlights of People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive through the years, shall we?
2009: Johnny Depp: This was Johnny's second time winning the honor. When Anne Hathaway starred alongside him in Alice In Wonderland, the actress said, "I hope I don’t faint."
2006: George Clooney: No surprise here. George told the mag, "I don’t go on that many dates."
2001: Pierce Brosnan: Pierce might be a heart throb, but he's always been a family man. Julianna Marguilies said, " "When you see a gorgeous man holding hands with his wife and holding his baby, there's nothing more sexy in the world." Unless that man is Brad Pitt, then you just think, "damn that Angelina."
1999: Richard Gere: Did you know he dated Diane von Furstenberg? Because I didn’t. The designer said: " "He walked like a biker, and that attracted me. I knew I was going to get my hands on him. I seduced him."
1997: George Clooney: It was Clooney's first time to be honored with the title. He starred in E.R. at the time.
1996: Denzel Washington: Another family man, Denzel told the mag he "doesn’t take himself too seriously."
1995: Brad Pitt: Brad graced the cover with long, flowing locks after his role in Interview With a Vampire. You know, the Twighlight of the 90s.
1991: Patrick Swayze: The late actor garnered the well-deserved title, with Demi Moore saying: " has a very sweet, gentle, kind heart, and those southern manners. But he's also got a very rugged, animalistic physique."
1985: Mel Gibson: He was People Magazine's first Sexiest Man Alive. And if not for his bizarre, racist outbursts, Mel Gibson might've been known for that.
