Rumors were already flying that Brad Pitt was to be the face of Chanel N°5 and on Wednesday, the French fashion house ended the speculation.
“CHANEL has selected world renowned actor Brad Pitt to be the face of the upcoming advertising campaign for CHANEL N°5,” the company announced on Twitter.
Along with the surprising news, they included a photo of Pitt with a smoldering look on his face. Yum!
The 48-year-old actor will be the first male face of the iconic perfume that was first produced in 1921.
According to the Huffington Post, Gaspard Ulliel appeared in a Chanel men's fragrance ad, but at least as far as they could tell, he was never the official spokesperson of N°5.
Past faces for the fragrance include actress Nicole Kidman and French film stars Audrey Tatou and Catherine Deneuve.
Actress Marilyn Monroe put the perfume on the map when she famously claimed that she wore nothing to bed but “five drops of Chanel No. 5.”
“Like a winning lottery ticket,” Coco Chanel’s friend Misia Sert once described of the success surrounding the fragrance.
We think Pitt might agree! The fiancé of Angelina Jolie and father to six kids has reportedly signed a seven figure deal and is set to shoot the first ad in London later this week, according to E! Online. How convenient, since Angelina Jolie, 36, is set to start filming ‘Maleficent’ at Pinewood Studios outside London!
The Chanel ad should be released overseas sometime later this year.
