According to reports, the town's mayor actually made the suggestion to the Jolie-Pitts, telling them to invite the locals over and maybe the paps will leave them alone.
They've been so secretive and holed up in their chateau that people are doing anything to get a glimpse of them.
Once the element of surprise is gone, they'll be able to live a more normal life. Plus, the mayor says it's tradition for new families to open their doors to villagers for a reception.
