Brad Pitt will be honored at the 23rd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) with the Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award. Brad is receiving this award for his lead role in Moneyball and his supporting role in The Tree of Life. Brad is already nominated for a SAG award for his work in Moneyball and will probably also nab Oscars and Golden Globes for both roles.
Brad is the latest celeb announced as an honoree at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Other previously announced honorees include George Clooney, Glenn Close, Michel Hazanavicius, Octavia Spencer and Michelle Williams.
"Brad Pitt consistently mesmerizes audiences with the depth and versatility of his performances," says Harold Matzner, Chairman of the PSIFF, "He has the rare ability to interpret and capture the most complicate facets of human nature, infusing his roles with strength and emotion."
This isn't the first time Pitt has been honored at the festival. In 2007 he was honored as part of the ensemble cast for the flick Babel.
Matzner continues in the statement, "In The Tree of Life, he portrays a father whose sensitive son tries to make sense of their relationship and understand the wrongs of a difficult childhood. In Moneyball, he faces failure head on and draws upon his dormant, though fierce competitive nature to become a standout in the world of major league baseball management."
The film festival will take place on January 7, 2012 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
