It looks like the wedding everyone’s been waiting on for forever is getting more real! Brad Pitt has bought Angelina Jolie a little pre-wedding present (is this a new thing? I hope it’s a new thing)—a $370,000 watch. That’s about 54 Rolexes. That’s also possibly more than your house cost.
It’s called the Patek Philippe Minute Repeater, which is a strange name, as I would think something that repeats the same minutes would make a sh*tty time-teller. But by all accounts it’s a beautiful watch with a mother of pearl dial that took two months to put together.
Brad met the owners of the Patek Philippe company at a watch fair in Geneva (yes, watch fairs happen and yes, apparently Brad Pitt goes to them in his spare time).
According to a source that spoke to The Sun about the matter, "It chimes like Big Ben and is constructed by hand. He [Brad] went to Geneva to pick it up and it’s believed he’ll present it to Ange as a pre-wedding gift."
Angie’s new watch isn’t even the company’s most expensive—in 1999, a model known as “The Supercomplication” (again, sounds like a really irritating way to tell time, but rich people, you know) sold at auction for $11 million.
The purchase follows another pretty significant buy for Brad: a Suzuki motorbike for his 11-year-old son that retails for $3,000, which is chump change in the game of ensuring that your son becomes a badass.
