Bono is known for his political activist work, and his latest concern is with the African countries. He is calling for the creation of the United States of Africa in order for the nations to resolve their conflicts.
He says, "Irish people used to always have a little giggle when they would see Americans saluting their flags in schools, and then the whole lot standing there, singing the flag thing. But as you get to know a little bit more about things, you start to think, ah, there's so many different tribal groups in the United States, that to create a national identity of that size, they had to really work at this kind of patriotism."
Bono expressed his belief at a conference in Japan last week that African leaders should turn to the U.S. as an example. Props to Bono!
