Well that was quick…
Three weeks after Bobby Brown entered into rehab for alcohol addiction, the R&B singer is reportedly back on the streets after checking himself out of the facility. The sudden move is said to have family members concerned with his ability to stay sober.
According to RadarOnline.com, Brown checked out of rehab last week, cutting his expected 90-day massively short.
“When he first checked in, he promised his family and friends, including his New Edition band mates, that this time he was going to stay in rehab for the full treatment,” a source close to the family told Radar.
Checking into rehab was part of Bobby’s plea deal associated with his DUI arrest back in March. As a result, he was given a $390 fine and ordered to take part in a 90-day alcohol education course.
Now that he fulfilled the legal obligations of the rehab visit, Brown was free to go.
Though the singer feels like he’s had enough rehabilitation, sources close to the situation feel otherwise.
“They’re not sure if he was ever serious about conquering his demons and have voiced their concerns,” a source said. “It’s difficult to believe someone going into rehab for alcohol addiction for such a short time is genuine about giving up drinking.”
According to his attorney Christopher Brown, Bobby is taking his agreement very seriously, citing not only the (brief) rehab visit but also the break from his pop group New Edition.
“Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the state of California," said Christopher.
Reportedly supporting Brown throughout the rehab stint is his new wife Alicia Etheredge who contradicted the story saying that his family is “very proud” of his progress.
