Congratulations, the pop punk girl with the big voice, Cassadee Pope has been named the third annual winner of “The Voice.”
Cassadee was Blake Shelton’s talent, making this the second year that Blake has led a singer to victory. Last year’s winner Jermaine Paul shot to victory with Blake’s help, let’s ignore the fact that we don’t remember who Jermaine Paul is and please don’t ask me who won Season 1. But yay! Cassadee!
Obviously Blake has a great eye for talent, but the always self-deprecating country crooner tells Hollyscoop, “Its just about figuring out and understanding and capitalizing on what people react to. That is what Cassadee and I did week after week did. We went ‘oh my gosh’ look how people responded to you singing ‘Over You’. Let’s find the right song this week for you to do that again. And we did that and we got the same reaction so we did that week after week and it was about she and I making the right decisions as an artist.”
And that’s how you win “The Voice,” kids! Also, make sure you choose Blake as your coach.
Cassadee sang “I’m With You” WITH her idol Avril Lavigne and it was as great as Cassadee’s Avril covers always are.
However, we can’t say we were surprised that Cassadee won, every time one of the contestants gets an iTunes hit, it’s worth 10 times the regular vote and Cassadee has been selling iTunes singles all season!
Cassadee told us that she “was confident each week I saw my placement on the iTunes chart.”
Well, “The Voice,” it was nice knowing you. Until next season, or mid-season with Shakira and Usher? Errr, we’ll see you soon.
