Sounds like a typical case of “I don’t want him, but you can’t have him either.”
“Scarlett is pissed that he’s not under her spell anymore. She realized what a great catch Ryan was.”
I’m guessing that realization came after Scarlett’s old man make-out sessions with Sean Penn.
The source said of Reynold’s and Lively’s budding romance: “Things are great! They haven’t had a fight yet.”
Apparently, Scarlett lost her chance when she started dating Sean Penn earlier this year.
“Ryan would have gotten back with her. He was so totally in love,” says the source. "But then she flaunted Sean right after their split, and he was done."
I don’t know if “flaunted” is the right word here. I mean, we’re talking about Sean Penn here, not Bradley Cooper. Sean’s great and all, but I don’t think he’s been “flaunted” since 1989.
Anyway, adding insult to injury is the fact that Reynolds and Lively met on the set of the Green Lantern back in 2010, while Ryan was still married to Scarlett.
The ex-couple have managed to remain friends throughout their split, and Johansson still calls their marriage “the best thing I ever did.”
“I’m a big believer that when something feels right, you should do it,” Scarlett says. "I'm a big believer in instinct. Getting married was the right thing to do because it was natural. It grew out of a romance and love and a desire to have a future with somebody and I was very fortunate that I married somebody who turned out to be the person I thought he would be."
So…uh…why did you break up?
"I think I was not fully aware of the peaks and valleys. I wasn't prepared to hunker down and do the work ... Both of us were extremely busy. We spent so much time apart."
Johansson added that "Relationships are complicated and being married is a living, breathing process.”
Scarlett’s latest rumored romance is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But it doesn’t look like it’s anything serious, as Scarlett says she’s enjoying single life.
"I've never been single for a chunk of time before," she says. "You miss having a partner and a confidant, but I have to say, I'm appreciating having the time to get to know myself."
