Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot secretly in the South this week, and while everyone was gasping, the couple-to-be were laughing all the way to the altar.
According to a source, humor was part of the wedding vows that the 25-year-old actress and 35-year-old actor wrote and recited for one another.
I know, I was shocked too. Celebrities can read and write…
“They promised to support and love each other and to make each other laugh,” a source tells People for the magazine’s cover story this week. “[Ryan] said he would treasure Blake; she said she would adore him. The whole time they were beaming.”
Blake’s eyes “started to well up” during the adorable and sentimental exchange of their rings. “A lot of people started to well up, actually,” continues the source.
After the two wed at a plantation hall in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina—just outside Charleston on the same property that 2004’s cinematic love story The Notebook was filmed no less—the rosy ceremony had various other lighthearted touches at their reception which took place at the Cotton Dock’s boathouse.
A DJ spun old standards like “The Way You Look Tonight,” Florence + the Machine lead singer and Blake’s friend Florence Welch sang a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a limited guest list of about 60 family and friends including Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actresses America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Biedel, toasty after-dinner s’mores; and a paper lantern send-off for the couple’s happiness.
