Billy Bob Thornton’s eldest daughter has been arrested on charges of child abuse after the 1-year old little girl she was babysitting died.
Amanda Brumfield was taken into custody on Friday night after detectives on the case believed her story didn’t seem quite right.
According to
CNN, Brumfield was babysitting the child in October, and claimed she had fallen and hit her head. Police say Brumfield called 911 more than two hours later after being unable to revive the child.
An autopsy revealed a fractured skull and brain injury, leading the medical examiner to rule the death a homicide. The Associated Press reports that Brumfield's explanation was inconsistent with the child's injuries.
Thornton's publicist, Arnold Robinson, told
CNN that Billy Bob and Brumfield are estranged, "and [he] has had no contact with her for quite some time. When informed about this situation, he commented that, 'Anytime a baby's life is lost is an unimaginable tragedy and my heart goes out to the baby's family and loved ones.'”
What a sad story! We hope this is a misunderstanding and that Billy Bob’s daughter isn’t really involved.
