Beyoncé is getting ready to enjoy her first Mother’s Day ever. She gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy with husband Jay-Z, 42, back in January. And who better to dish about the big day than the 30-year-old superstar’s own mom, Tina Knowles?
Knowles, also grandmother to Solange’s son, Daniel Julez Smith, Jr., opened up to Us Weekly about the family’s plans while at a charity event in New York City on Wednesday.
"[We're] all going to be together,” Knowles reportedly gushed. “We're excited because it's Beyoncé’s first Mother's Day.”
And what did the proud grandmother and House of Deréon designer have in mind?
"I'm hoping to cook! I want to cook," she declared. "My traditional soul food and maybe gumbo. That's my favorite dish!"
Knowles also voiced her opinion about Beyoncé’s recent red carpet appearance at Monday night’s annual Costume Institute Gala, held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The singer wore a racy gown by Givenchy Haute Couture with a long black and purple feather train.
"She looked amazing," Knowles enthused. "I think she looked absolutely amazing."
Beyoncé was recently named People Magazine’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2012. Happy first Mother’s Day, Beyoncé!
