If you have ears and a brain, chances are you heard about Beyonce’s lip-sync tragedy at the presidential inauguration. Everyone is FREAKING OUT, as if this is the first time that a pop star lip-sync’d a song.
The only person who doesn’t care? Beyonce herself.
A source close to the singer told US Magazine, “Beyonce was disappointed” by the reaction to the lip-syncing controversy, which she calls “a technicality which everybody does, [that] took away from the beauty of the moment.”
The source adds that Beyonce, “didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. Pavarotti has done it!”
You know who also lip-sync’d and it wasn’t a big deal? Whitney Houston. Yep, Whitney “golden vocal chords” Houston lip-syncd the national anthem at the Super Bowl and it went down in history as the "greatest version of the national anthem ever." It was even released as a single and made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Jennifer Hudson and Mariah Carey have also lip-sync’d in the past and nobody cared.
Anyways, Bey Bey still thinks it’s not a big deal. SO STOP MAKING IT A BIG DEAL!
“It was freezing out, and if she messed up just one note, that would have been the story. Everybody uses these tracks, and the music director advised it. Any big outdoor performance is always with some kind of track. She did sing, but used a track,” says the source.
Not to play devil’s advocate, because we really don’t care that Bey used a track, but Kelly Clarkson sang her song totally LIVE. So the whole “cold” and “big outdoor performance” argument doesn’t really stand.
