Born Benjamin Levi Combs on March 11, 1979, in Waldorf, Maryland, Benji Madden first became famous for his immense guitar skills and backup vocals while playing alongside his identical brother Joel Madden in their band Good Charlotte.

Benji and his brother’s success began picking up soon after Good Charlotte’s second album The Young and the Hopeless (2002) reached number 7 on the Billboard 200 chart in part of its lead single “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” dominating the radio. The album has sold more than 3.5 million copies nationwide as of 2012.

The band went on to release Chronicles of Life and Death (2004), Good Morning Revival (2007) and Cardiology (2009) prior to taking a hiatus in September 2011.

Aside from Good Charlotte, Benji co-produced and co-wrote singles off of Hilary Duff’s album Most Wanted (2005) as well as co-wrote the theme song of Paris Hilton’s MTV series My New Bff. He also started a clothing line with his brothers Josh and Joel and their friend Tal Cooperman, called MADE Clothing.

In 2006, Benji made his acting debut as Mistaken Valet #2 in Material Girls (2006) and has made multiple cameo appearances, including in the spoof flick Not Another Teen Movie (2001).
