Beloved TV characters Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence-Matthews are returning to the small screen in, yes those Facebook posts taking up your newsfeed this morning about “Boy Meets World” were right, in a new spin-off called “Girl Meets World.”
Yayy! Children of the ‘90s, your favorite 7-year-running ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World” is not condemned to your DVD line-up forever.
It has just been announced that Disney is filming a pilot called “Girl Meets World” about the child that Cory and Topanga Lawrence had together and what their life is like, 12 years later. Remember, they got married on the show. This was back during the “7th Heaven” and “Dawson’s Creek” era when TV characters got married in the final seasons.
Ben Savage who played Cory, wrote on Twitter, “I’m going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The ‘Boy Meets World’ sequel is officially happening!”
And Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga, wrote about the spin-off on her Tumblr and hinted that we will also see some other familiar faces, who I’m hoping/praying is Mr. Feeny or Shawn Hunter aka ‘90s beefcake Rider Strong.
All that’s known about the show is that it will center around Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley, who will have an edgy best friend and the two will learn some life lessons. So, exactly like “Boy Meets World.”
Also, Cory Matthews will be the new History teacher at the high-school where he and Topanga attended as kids.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
