Drumroll please…and the winner for Best Motion Picture of the year goes to Argo!
Argo is exactly the kind of movie Hollywood loves. Ben Affleck was “snubbed” in the actor and director category, so he totally deserves to win SOMETHING. Also, “Argo” nods to Hollywood with it’s faux movie theme, and Hollywood loves movies about Hollywood.
Ben Affleck, his producer’s Grant Heslov and George Clooney accepted the award along with the rest of the cast.
Grant rambled for about 2 minutes during the acceptance speech so poor Ben THE REAL STAR Affleck had to rush through his speech.
Ben thanked all the regulars (his agents, Harvey Weinstein probably, his bestie George Clooney) and then gave a weird-ish nod to his wife Jennifer Garner, saying, “I want to thank my wife, who I don’t generally associate with Iran, our marriage is work. Thank you for working with me for 10 Christmases, it’s the best kind of work. I love working with you.”
I guess it was cute. Ish. In his defense, he was VERY nervous and rushing through his speech.
This is Ben Affleck’s second Oscar. He won for Best Screenplay in 1998 for his film Good Will Hunting.
