President Obama Visits "The View"

May 15, 2012 By:

Usually, on “The View,” five women sit at a round table and discuss why “50 Shades Of Grey” is better than other books and why attachment parenting is almost as controversial as Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s views on everything, but today President Barack Obama paid a visit and surprisingly, the ladies actually let him speak!

Before the show got into topics like “Dear Mr. President, which Kardashian was married for 72 days?” and “Is Michelle Obama reading ‘50 Shades Of Grey?’” they talked about some other cool hot topics. Here are the highlights:

On Why He Came Out In Support of Gay Marriage:

“I’ve been a longtime supporter of civil unions for same sex couples…You know part of it was also just knowing friends and family, people that I’d gotten to know who had these wonderful relationships and they’d say to me you know what? The words matter. So even though you’re a strong supporter of civil unions somehow it still says we’re different and that particular set of conversations that I had is ultimately what led me to this conclusion.”

On His Plans For Re-Election:

“I think at this point, what I want to spend the next 5 years doing is recreating that America where if you work hard you can make it, regardless of where you come from, what you look like.”

On What’s Wrong With The Election System:

“What’s happened is, is that our politics breaks down. We’ve become more obsessed with winning the election than setting things up for the next generation and if we can break through that I could not be more confident or more proud of the this country and the direction we’re headed.”
