Oh, gosh… Here comes another viral video.
Carly Rae Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe” has an undeniable knack for getting stuck in your head. And here’s another reason to find yourself humming along without even thinking about it: President Obama is singing the song too in a brand new viral video.
Now before you go getting super excited about the commander-in-chief actually singing the Canadian musician’s tune at the podium, well… he doesn’t. But this might actually be funnier.
The video chops together the lyrics of Jepsen’s song that President Obama happened to say in various speeches and public announcements. Then it mashes those lyrics in sequence and in rhythm and, tada… it’s Obama singing “Call Me Maybe.”
Fadi Saleh – a 19-year-old - is responsible for the rendition. The creator goes by the name of “Barackdubs” on YouTube and has a total of three other Obama dubs currently compiled - President Obama singing “Drink to That” by Rihanna, “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga, and “Sexy and I Know It Know It” by LMFAO.
Obama’s “Call Me Maybe” was at 200,000 views this morning, but that number will surely be up to a million by the end of the day, because that’s the world we live in…
After “Canadian Idol,” Jepsen’s single became a megahit thanks to Justin Bieber, who simply tweeted about it. The song proceeded to explode all over sound waves.
Then came the viral dance-along video by the Harvard baseball team and the “remix” by the Olympic softball team. Jepsen performed the hit at the 2012 Billboard Awards just to prove that she has officially taken over our brains.
Watch this video with care. Love it, or hate it… It will get stuck in your head either way.
