The always graceful and super fashionable First Lady
Michelle Obama is making history again--this time by appearing on the cover of
Vogue magazine.
Michelle is the second president's wife--after Hillary Clinton-- to appear on the cover of Vogue. And boy does she look gorgeous!
The cover was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz at the Hay-Adams Hotel, where the Obama's stayed before the Inauguration, reports People.
In the March issue of the magazine, she poses in a magenta Jason Wu gown on a sofa. Talk about putting a new designer on the map!
She's also pictured hard at work surrounded by a notepad, pen, laptop, a cup of tea, and on the phone in a black dress by Narciso Rodriguez.
As for why the magazine's editor, Anna Wintour, chose Michelle for the cover, she writes, "Change was the clarion call of Barack Obama's election campaign, though I don't think any of us at Vogue initially realized that would include the difference that was going to be made by First Lady Michelle Obama's wardrobe ... It's inspiring to see our first lady so serene and secure in her personal style."
In the article,
Barack Obama's wife talks about getting used to her new life in Washington. "I'm going to try to take [our two daughters] to school every morning – as much as I can," she says, according to the Post.
"But there's also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won't be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids' school. I want to know the teacher; I want to know the other parents."
We'd love to see more of Michelle on the cover of fashion magazines. She's already become an icon in so many ways, it really is inspiring!
