McCain-Obama Debate Is On

The debate between presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama is going to happen today. There was talk from the McCain camp about postponing it as a result of the bleak state of our economy, but according to several news outlets, the two men are ready to talk.

Obama and McCain arrived yesterday for an extraordinary White House meeting intended to spark an agreement on the $700 billion government plan to bail out the nation's financial institutions.

McCain says of the situation, "With so much on the line, for America and the world, the debate that matters most right now is taking place in the United States Capitol - and I intend to join it. It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the administration's proposal to meet the crisis. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time."

In response to McCain wanting to postpone today's debate, Obama said, "It is going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one thing at once."

Whose side are you on at this point? And do you think anything will get accomplished by today's debate?
