Fox Refuses to Air Obama's Speech

The Fox network has opted not to air President Barack Obama’s speech this coming Wednesday. He’ll be addressing the nation for his “100 Days” news conference, but Fox thinks showing Lie To Me is a better idea.

The network said in a statement, "The Fox Broadcasting Company will not air the Presidential News Conference. Fox's sister networks, Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network, will air the press conference in its entirety.

"Fox will be alerting viewers with an onscreen graphic at the top of the 8PM hour that the press conference is available on Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network."

ABC, CBS and NBC have each issued statements saying they will air the President's telecast. Speculation is that Fox didn’t want to spend the money it costs to interrupt regularly scheduled programming. Their network is also typically the least-watched broadcaster when covering live news events.

Fox carried the President's three other post-inauguration news conferences, and even moved American Idol to a different time to make room for Obama's most recent telecast.

Guess Fox didn’t want to mess with the Idol elimination show at 9PM on Wednesday! This week will be a big one for the show!
