Barack Obama Elected President of the United States

November 05, 2008

Change is well on its way. Barack Obama will be the nation's 44th President. As polls closed on the West coast, its been projected that he has received enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold.

As of now, Barack Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. He also is projected to win Virginia, a state where the Democrats have not won since 1964.

This is truly a historical and proud day in America. He's not just a Black President but a leader for all Americans. We're hoping that this new term can bring the United States prosperity, peace and happiness. What are your thoughts and emotions at this point?

UPDATE: As of 8:17PM PST, Barack Obama has 306 Electoral Votes.

UPDATE: As of 8:25PM PST, Barack Obama has 333 Electoral Votes.

UPDATE: As of 8:38PM PST, Barack Obama has 338 Electoral Votes.

Having been a career Military man, and dealt in/with a few levels of "Political Influence" on command decisions, I am deeply concerned for our Nation. The United States' resolve on issues ranging from illegal immigration to nuclear arsenals and energy will be sorely tested in the coming weeks and months. Barack Obama is an "unknown quantity" in EVERY arena except his PAST dealings with terrorist/radical persons and groups. There are "radicals" everywhere, I just hope that those in America who might entertain thoughts of making him an "example", such as was done with Dr. King, will stop and THINK that the very WORST thing "we" could do would be to make a "martyr" out of him. Given his lack of experience in ANY sort of "management" roll, other than what is involved in launching "political-unrest movements" and "Bolshevic" seeds of discontent, I doubt VERY MUCH that he will have ANY respect from the majority of those in the Military, which will certainly hamper his ability to "command". While one might be inclined to think that his Islamic background will put him "In Bed" with Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc., THESE nations will be the very FIRST to launch actions which will require ONE of TWO responses from us...either we "roll-over" and give in, or we turn their soils into PARKING LOTS. God help us, but I do not see any way AROUND these events coming about, and while it is a generally accepted fact that the best thing for any struggling economy is a "War", as it boosts production and a centralized sense of morale, in this "day and age", it will be a "Lose-Lose" situation. Another, and perhaps one of the MOST, "Damning" positions of Mr. Obama, is the fact that he bills himself as an "African-American", when in truth, he is a "White/African American"...you cannot play the "Race Card" down the middle...you must come down on ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, and it is VERY EVIDENT which side he intends to play to. Again, God help us all!

i felt like i wanted to die last night. i am really worried also. i can't believe so many people voted for him. did you hear the clip on howard stern where they went around asking people (who were voting for obama) why they liked obama's policies, and just inserted mccain's policies in the question instead? they all agreed wholeheartedly... even when the question was "do you like that obama is pro-life, and pro-war in iraq?" they all said yes!! go look it up from the howard stern show. i was flabbergasted. people who voted for him knew nothing about him. jeez, i STILL don't know anything about him. what he stands for, anyways. he changes it all the time! oh well...

I don't want to hear one person complaining when Obama does not make good of anything that he built his campaign on. His policies are going to ruin America as we know it today. When you are paying a lot more in taxes, terrorists are a bigger threat than they are today, the country is in a deep depression and he fumbles in forgein policy - just remember that all of you voted for this guy - JUST BECAUSE HE PROMISED CHANGE. If one person on this website could state just one of the policies that he stands for- I would be impressed. Just about everyone I spoke to that voted for Obama could not give me one good reason why. They all just said - because he will make a change. WHAT CHANGE? You can't even define it! I admire the fact that he did come from nothing - that is amazing! I would have voted for him if I believed in his policies. Mc Cain would have been the better President for the US today as it stands. He is more experienced and knows government better than even our last President. I agree that we needed a change from Bush - but that doesn't mean that Obama was the right candidate. I am worried for us all.

If there was any doubt that this was the land of opportunity, if in the last 8 years you thought that this country would probably never see a positive light, you have Barack Obama, someone who comes from a poor background and becomes president of the United States. I am not Republican, nor do I consider myself Democrat, but that speech, was truly one of the greatest most touching speeches I have ever heard. The fact that this man proved the world, that the United States is the land of opportunity, just made my life. Congrats President-Elect Barack Obama, you have opened the door for many minorities to run for president of the United States in the future.
