Banksy Strikes Again

Banksy

Artist Banksy has gained notoriety for his works which often pop up on buildings, bridges and walls in the middle of the night. His latest piece of work showed up on a pharmacy in Islington, north London.

The piece, which appeared in the middle of the night, shows two children pledging allegiance to the supermarket giant Tesco. The pharmacy owner Raj Chavda said he couldn't be more delighted about the mysterious painting.

He said: "I just walked into the shop on Monday and, lo and behold, there it was. I am absolutely delighted - I think it's just fantastic. I've heard how much these works can go for.

"We would consider selling the wall, but not the shop. I think anyone who would want to erase it is crazy. It's a piece of art."

Here's some 411 on Banksy: He's a self-described "art terrorist" who has emerged over the past few years as an ingenious and clever "culture jammer." He's identity for the most part has remained anonymous over the years.

Celebs like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss, and Kelly Osbourne are huge fans of his art. Brangelina spent over $400,000 back in September 2006.. His art is truly genius, check out his official website at www.banksy.co.uk

Wow Jolie spent $400,000 dollars in 2006 in his art? I just wonder how many starving children she could've fed with that money. Jolie is a joke not a humanitarian.

To me he seems to be the pop star of the "underground culture" who gets lots of (too much?) bucks for his work. Guess that is how arts work – I'm waiting for the day he sprays himself with a painting brush through his heart dy(e)ing. Though I know some other grafiti artists who haven't been so lucky...
