Balloon Boy's Parents to Surrender to Police

The Heene family is in some serious trouble after the Sheriff's department deemed the Balloon Boy saga a hoax.

"It has been determined this was a hoax. It was a publicity stunt," Larimer County, Colo., Sheriff Jim Alderden told reporters Sunday. He said no arrests will be made until the investigation is complete.

The family now faces two felony charges: conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and according to People magazine, the family lawyer insists they're going to surrender themselves to authorities.

Denver attorney David Lane, who is representing 6 year old Falcon's parents Richard and Mayumi Heene, says he wishes to avoid "the public spectacle and humiliation" of police arresting them in the presence of their children and that the couple will turn themselves into authorities when the time comes.

It's so sad the things people will do for 15 minutes of fame. Child services is now considering removing Falcon from his home and placing him in foster care! Do you think that's a good idea?

I think it's important to remember that it's not the children who are at fault, but the parents. I have mixed feelings about how this situation should be handled. Yes, the parents are totally crazy, but putting the children in foster care could screw up the rest of their lives. I don't know that that's the best thing to do. I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.

I had actually watched the Wife Swap episode just a week or so ago. The father was a raging asshole. The mother was obviously a mail order bride from Viet Nam or somewhere over there. The father probably couldn't get a woman otherwise. He was rude, obnoxious and very chauvinistic. I would have beaten the man to death. They made their kids wear clothes to bed in case they had to get up in the middle of the night to chase a storm. I hope they take those kids away from them, deport the mother and lock the father up for a long, long time. He won't last long in jail with his mouth. Those kids are obviously terrified of their father as the mother was.

I cant believe the entire world was worried about this child all for a practical joke. This family needs some serious help. And the amount of resources that were used to try and get this child down. How sad.

i knew it was a hoax when i heard the 911 tape and the mother swearing it was a ufo that took her child. These parents are fruit loops that need help. they are self proclaimed storm chasers, tkaing the kids along with them. what exactly is this fathers back ground with science that he knows when its safe to chase a storm with his chidlren. as much as i hate to see a child seperated from its parents these kids need protection from these two fame seekers.

The minute I heard that this whole thing was made up, I thought, someone from Youth & Family Services should look into this. These parents are morons.
