Padma Lakshmi Welcomes a Girl

Congratulations to Padma Lakshmi, who has just given birth to a baby girl! The Top Chef host delivered the baby on Saturday at a New York City hospital after years of struggling to get pregnant. As Hollyscoop previously reported, Padma’s pregnancy was considered a miracle since she has endometriosis, which usually leads to infertility.

Her rep issued a statement saying, "Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday. Mother and baby are well and happy."

Padma had talked in the past about choosing an Indian name for her baby. She said, "I am going to name the child an Indian name. It will be after someone in my family, so don't expect to see an Anglicized name – it will be a classically Indian Sanskrit name."

As for the baby daddy, we still don’t know who he is, and Padma has not commented on it. We’re glad she and the baby are healthy and happy!
