Last night the 40th Annual Country Music Awards rocked Nashville and all of country music’s finest were in the house. The red carpet sizzled when Sheryl Crow strutted her stuff in a sexy black lace gown while “Desperate” hottie Eva Longoria rocked a short sequined dress. Eva was back to her long her hair, after sporting the "Posh" hair-do the night before. Country starlets Carrie Underwood and Leann Rimes also shinned on the carpet in their earth tone gowns.
Speaking of Carrie, she was crowned the queen of the night with two victories. The American Idol winner tearfully picked up her best female vocalist of the year award and said, "Two years ago I was sitting at home watching these very awards and watching all these other people win and having the best night of their life, and this is the best year of my life."
According to the Associated Press Carrie who also won the Horizon award told reporters backstage, she was happy just to be nominated, let alone win two trophies. "I would have taken male vocalist if they had given it to me," she joked.
Not everyone was so pleased with Carrie's win though, Faith Hill won the 'Sore Loser of the Night' award...she was caught on camera clearly pissed off when Carrie was announced the winner. If you watch the clip carefully, you can see her throw up her hands and mouth "WHAT!" when Carrie was announced the winner. It's pretty funny actually. I would have never taken Faith as a sore loser. Oh well!
Speaking of male vocalist the winner of that award was Keith Urban who dropped out of the awards show after checking into rehab last month. Keith received a standing ovation when his name was announced. His prize was accepted by Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn, who read a letter from Urban in which in which he thanked his friends and family and wife Nicole Kidman. "To my wife, Nicole, I love you," Urban said the in the letter. "I'm looking forward to coming home and seeing you all soon."
Besides Urban, the most buzzed-about nominee was former Dancing With the Stars contestant Sara Evans, who dropped out of the reality show amid a headline-making divorce. Although she didn't win female vocalist of the year, she performed her hit, "Real Fine Place to Start." Now that’s the scoop from Nashville!
