2012 Golden Globes Nominations List

The Golden Globe Nominations have just been announced, and there's plenty to look forward to this year.

George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling are absolutely killing it in the nominations this award season, and it's well-deserved. Michelle Williams, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Tilda Swinton, Jodie Foster, Kristen Wiig, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Glenn Close are also all in the spotlight.

The nominations closely resembled the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, which were announced on Wednesday. The Globes also recognize directors, and Woody Allen, George Clooney, Martin Scorsese, Michal Hazanavicius and Alexander Payne were all nominated in that category for their work in Midnight in Paris, the Ides of March, Hugo, The Artist and The Descendants, respectively.

Hollyscoop talked to 'Modern Family' star Sofia Vergara about her nomination just moments after her name was announced and she told us: "Of course life is crazy, there's things professionally that are happening to me that I never thought [could] occur to m. It was never a dream or anything. To be part of a show like 'Modern Family' is already an award [and] to be nominated on top of this is...I cannot believe it."

Ricky Gervais is returning as host for the third time despite hurting some feelings in Hollywood. After it was announced he would be turning, Ricky immediately took his naughtiness to Twitter:

"Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)."

He later warned: "@piersmorgan: BOOM! @rickygervais back hosting Golden Globes. Be afraid, Hollywood egos, be very afraid.” It's gonna be biblical."

Wait..you can tag yourself in a Tweet?

Piers Morgan responded: "Dear @rickygervais - please can I have the first 'Sorry if I offended anyone' interview after the 2012 Golden Globes, like last time?"

Gervais responded: "@piersmorgan I'll escape to New York straight after. See you there."

I'm not sure what I'm looking more forward to—the awards or Ricky Gervais' jokes.

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented Sunday, January 15, 2012.
